About the Stumbling Writer

Welcome Friend, grab a cup of coffee and a seat.

Let me tell you how this all started…

There are only three things I’ve ever been good at:  being a mom, writing, and That-Other-Thing.  From experience I’ve learned that being a mom has a ton of fringe benefits.  Fiscally speaking though, it stinks.  Unless you are Joe Jackson, parenthood is the only career guaranteed to make you poorer.  To add insult to injury, the better you are at it, the more money you lose.  As a mother of four children, I’ve obviously learned that lesson slower than most.

That-Other-Thing certainly has it’s own set of fringe benefits and it IS possible to earn a good income from it.  I, however, don’t live in Nevada.  The big drawback is the surety that it will eventually lead to another promotion in the Mom career.  I was hoping I had reached the glass ceiling there.   I think its probably best that I keep my career options in That-Other-Thing limited to my husband for now.  Besides, I signed a pretty strict non-compete waiver when I started my employment with him.

So one day as I was spreading the last of the food stamp purchased peanut-butter on the last of the food-stamped bread, I decided that the only real option I had for a career was writing.

I have always written.  I do it for mental health.  I guess now I have decided to either put up or shut up.

This blog is going to be the day-by-day record of my success or failure.  If I do it, my loyal readers will learn how.  If I fail, then it should at least be funny to watch.

So read on my friend!
